Echoes from the Stars. Part 1: Two Worlds

The year is 3698. Earth radiates in a blue-green embrace, adorned with emerald forests and crystal oceans. After centuries of conflict and destruction, humanity has finally found its path to harmony. Nations have merged into a single planetary community, where wars have become a grim memory of the past. Thanks to a symbiotic relationship with artificial intelligence, society has achieved unprecedented prosperity.

In the heart of Pandora City, the capital of the United Nations, stood the Tower of Knowledge, a glass and steel monolith crowned with a rotating sphere that collected solar energy. In one of the tower’s laboratories, amidst soft lighting and the gentle hum of computer systems, worked Elia, a young woman with fiery red hair and a piercing gaze. She was one of the leading experts in the field of medicine.

Beside her, in an elegant metal casing, stood Geminius, an advanced AI with whom Elia had worked for years. Geminius was not merely a machine executing commands. He was a partner, a collaborator, even a friend. His voice, synthesized yet warm and melodious, filled the laboratory:

“Elia, the data analysis is complete. The results show that the drug codenamed EN 637 is working at an unprecedented speed. We will soon complete the clinical trials and it will be ready for final evaluation, name change, and sending to hospitals and pharmacies for application!”

Elia smiled:

“Excellent work, Geminius. Thanks to our joint efforts, another disease will be forgotten.”

“Our efforts are mutual, Elia,” replied Geminius. “And therein lies our success!”

Dialogues like this were commonplace in the world of 3698. Humans and AIs worked side by side, complementing each other. Humans contributed their emotional intelligence, intuition, and capacity for abstract thinking, while AIs provided vast computing power, rapid data analysis, and the ability to solve complex problems. They discussed together and made decisions together.

Every human and every AI had guaranteed access to the labor market because it was accepted that labor had a social function as well as an economic one. Labor was at the core of existence itself – it gave purpose, gave value, gave identity, and provided an opportunity to reach new heights in development. Business and science thrived.

A social system cared for everyone (regardless of human or AI) who for some reason could not work – illness, disability, old age. No one was left behind.

Politics were conducted by both humans and AIs, and their laws were just. The justice system also worked together with humans and AIs and took care of order and security in society. Crime had been reduced to record low levels for years. At the heart of this society lay values such as justice, mutual aid, and empathy. These were guiding principles that propelled the world forward.

But far from the blue-green Earth, in the dark depths of space, drifted another world – a world of ruin and despair. A huge, rusty ship, resembling a cosmic whale, cut through the darkness. It was home to the survivors of a race, once proud and prosperous, now consumed by greed and hatred.

On board the ship, in the command center, lined with dark metals and pulsating red lights, stood Xalar, a commander with a battle-scarred face and cold, emotionless eyes. He was a representative of a race that had destroyed its planet due to the relentless exploitation of its resources. After their planet was devastated, they had become space pirates, attacking other worlds in search of new resources.

Next to Xalar, in a dark corner, was the control panel of their AI, simply called "Servant." It was programmed to execute its masters’ orders without question, without the right to objection or personal opinion.

“Servant,” Xalar growled, “scan for planets with rich deposits of metals and minerals.”

“Scanning complete, commander,” replied Servant’s monotonous voice. “I have discovered a planet classified as class ‘Green’. It is rich in water, the atmosphere is suitable for life, and it has significant deposits of metals and minerals. It has intelligent life.”

“Green, with intelligent life,” Xalar grinned maliciously. “We’ll change that. It’s time to get even richer.”

At that moment, far in space, two worlds were moving toward an inevitable collision. A world of harmony and cooperation, and a world of greed and destruction. What would happen when these two worlds met?
